When you ask someone to actually commit a payment, the real number is 10–30% of those who said yes. The Four Validation Mistakes That Produce False Positives

The 48-hour validation is reliable — but only if you run it correctly. Here are the four mistakes that produce false signals and lead to building products that nobody buys:

Asking Your Existing Clients Instead of Strangers

Your existing clients will say yes to almost anything you offer because they trust you and want to support you. Their "I'm in" is not market validation — it's relationship courtesy. A valid validation requires at least 60% of positive responses from people you don't have an existing relationship with. If all your "I'm in" replies come from people who already pay you, the validation is incomplete.

Counting Likes and Views as Demand Signals

A post with 200 likes and zero "I'm in" replies tells you nothing about whether anyone will buy. Likes are a social gesture. Payment commitments are a demand signal. The only metrics that count in the 48-hour validation are replies to the waitlist ask and commitments to the price anchor. Everything else is noise.
